Under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, public health works to prevent spread of communicable diseases * some conditions, such as whooping cough, mumps, tuberculosis, rabies, etc should be reported urgently and immediately * other conditions can wait until next business day, such as Lyme, chickenpox, typhoid, etc
