Delivery of public health programs including food safety, safe water and infectious diseases

  • Beach Water Quality Monitoring Water testing at public lake shore beaches for unsafe bacteria * see X (formerly Twitter) @huronbeachinfo and website for notifications
  •  
  • Diseases Reportable to Public Health Under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, public health works to prevent spread of communicable diseases * some conditions, such as whooping cough, mumps, tuberculosis, rabies, etc should be reported urgently and immediately * other conditions can wait until next business day, such as Lyme, chickenpox, typhoid, etc

  • Food Safety Food safety information * food premises inspections, investigates food borne illnesses, responds to food premises related complaints

  • Tobacco and Vapour Product Enforcement Enforces the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, 2017 through inspections of enclosed workplaces, public places, schools and other places that are required to be smoke, vape and cannabis-free * conducts inspections of tobacco and electronic cigarette vendors to ensure compliance with the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, including youth access restrictions, and the display and promotion of products
