Description of Services:
Mental health services for adults with a serious mental illness * time-limited mental health assessments and treatment, crisis intervention and stabilization

One-on-one and group services provided * coordination with community resources for follow-up treatment and community support provided as part of discharge planning

  • Adult Eating Disorders Service Community-based program for assessing and treating eating disorders * levels of care include assessment, outpatient services, day treatment, residential treatment
  •  
  • Adult Inpatient Mental Health Service 74 inpatient beds, including 12 psychiatric intensive care beds * diagnostic and treatment services for people who have acute psychiatric disorders that require hospitalization on a voluntary or involuntary basis
  •  
  • Centralized Emergency Psychiatry Service (CEPS) Emergency assessments are conducted in the emergency room by a team consisting of nurses, social workers, psychiatrists, and residents
  •  
  • Consultation-Liaison Service Deals with overlap of physical health and mental health care * provides timely psychiatric consultations to adult patients on medical/surgical units * primarily inpatient-focused but may require brief outpatient follow-up

  • General Adult Ambulatory Mental Health Services (GAAMHS) Mental health services available through a centralized access point * psychiatry consultations (urgent and non-urgent)

  • Geriatric Mental Health Program Inter-disciplinary out-patient assessment, treatment and referral for individuals 65 years and older who experience mental disorders of late life including:
    • dementia and related disorders
    • mood disorders
    • psychotic disorders

  • Prevention and Early Intervention Program for Psychoses (PEPP) Early detection, assessment and treatment to people with a first episode of psychosis * one-on-one, group and family supports available

  • Urgent Consultation Service Mental health assessments conducted by nurse case managers and psychiatrists
