Description of Services:
Charitable organization dedicated to improving the quality of life, independence and community support for persons living with epilepsy * offers programs that increase education and public awareness in all diverse areas of the community

Programs and services: 
  • epilepsy education (interactive educational program offering epilepsy awareness and seizure first aid)
  • Epilepsy Classroom (caters to the individual learning and social-emotional needs of children who have intractable epilepsy, that is, ongoing seizure activity despite maximal medical treatment, as well as children who have recently undergone brain surgery for intractable epilepsy * an initiative of The Centre for Brain & Mental Health at The Hospital for Sick Children * contact Dr. Elizabeth Kerr, head of the Epilepsy Classroom, 416-813-8371)
  • Grade 5 curriculum integration
  • child and youth support services including training for teachers and camp leaders
  • counselling and support groups
  • clinic to community program
  • youth empowerment program

  • seniors helping seniors * the goal of this program is not only to educate seniors and caregivers about epilepsy and how to recognize seizure symptoms, but also to engage seniors in general as volunteers to help them stay engaged and active in their communities
