Description of Services:
Responsible for providing a fair and accessible justice system which reflects the needs of the diverse communities it serves across government and the province * manages the justice system in an equitable, affordable and accessible way throughout the province
Administers and delivers a wide range of justice services including:
administering various statutes
conducting criminal proceedings throughout Ontario
providing legal advice to, and conducting litigation on behalf of, all government ministries and many agencies, boards and tribunals
providing advice on, and drafting legislation and regulations
coordinating and administering court services throughout Ontario
The Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee and the Children's Lawyer fall within MAG's responsibilities * the Ministry also funds Legal Aid Ontario which is administered by an independent board
Office for Victims of Crime
Reviews and assists with the development and enhancement of victims services in Ontario * while ensuring that victims of crimes are treated with respect and receive the necessary information and services
Office of the Children's Lawyer
Investigates, advocates, protects and represents the personal and property rights and obligations of children under the law, in proceedings before the courts and tribunals of Ontario
Ontario Victim Services
Provides information, assistance and support to victims and witnesses of crime to increase their understanding of, and participation in, the criminal court process
