Sarnia-Lambton is located in the southwest region of Southwestern Ontario. Lambton County has a total population of approx. 126, 975. The largest urban area in Lambton County is Sarnia featuring more than 70, 000 residents and approximately 20 kilometres of waterfront. Sarnia hugs the St. Clair River where it joins Lake Huron, across from Port Huron, Michigan. Here the landmark twin Blue Water Bridges joins Ontario with Port Huron, Michigan. Hugging the sandy shoreline of Lake Huron, communities like Grand Bend and Ipperwash have welcomed travelers for a century. Forest, Arkona and Thedford are major service communities for the tourism industry. Away for the shoreline Lambton County consists of many agricultural based communities. Small towns including Forest, Wyoming, Petrolia, Watford, Oil Springs and Alvinston each bring their own added charm to the County.
Programs and Services:
Bluewater Health was designated a District Stroke Centre in 2002 and granted funding to provide a Secondary Stroke Prevention Clinic in 2006. It consists of three sites located in Sarnia and Petrolia. Bluewater Health – Mitton Site provides acute care including the only cardiac care and inpatient psychiatric units in Lambton County. Bluewater Health – Norman Site provides continuing care, palliative care, rehabilitation, and obstetrics. The Norman and Mitton Sites also provide space for the local Community Care Access Centre staff. Bluewater Health – CEE Site is located in Petrolia and serves the needs of rural Lambton through a mix of acute care and continuing care services. Bluewater Health services Lambton County with a total of 320 beds.
Sarnia-Lambton has a number of community agencies servicing residents who have experienced stroke in the community such as the Stroke Recovery Association and Lambton Elderly Outreach. As well, there are ten Long Term Care Facilities in Lambton County.

- The demographic profile of Lambton County indicates that more than one quarter of the population is over age 55 (26.4% of the population).
- Each year in Sarnia-Lambton more than 300 people are given the diagnosis of stroke or transient ischemic attack.
- Cerebral vascular disease has been cited as the third leading cause of death among males and the second leading cause of death among females in Lambton County.
