About SWO
The Southwestern Ontario Stroke Region is one of eleven geographic stroke regions within the province. The other regions are:
Central South
Central East
Southeastern Ontario
West GTA
Toronto West
North & East GTA
South East Toronto
Northwestern Ontario
Ottawa (The Champlain District)
Northeastern Ontario
Together, the Regional Stroke Centre, District Stroke Centres and Stroke Prevention Clinics form the Ontario Stroke System.
The Regional Stroke Centre for the Southwestern Ontario Region is located at University Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre. District Stroke Centres are located in Owen Sound (Grey Bruce Health Services), Stratford (Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance), Sarnia (Bluewater Health), Chatham (Chatham Kent Health Alliance) and Windsor (Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital). These centres serve the following areas: Grey, Bruce, Huron, Perth, Oxford, Middlesex, and Elgin Counties, which comprise most of the Southwest Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), and Sarnia-Lambton, Chatham-Kent, and Windsor Essex – which comprise the Erie St. Clair LHIN.
